Here are our top tips for shopping for a bridesmaid gown.

Tessa Brand, Planner, shares some essential advice for brides before making dress appointments. One of the most exciting parts bridesmaid gown of wedding planning is dress shopping! If you’ve never been to a bridal dress outing before, it may seem easy – until you book appointments. To stay organized during this process, Tessa recommends that brides stay organized by following this guide to maximize your appointments on your big day.

Fill out your calendar accordingly.

Do not attempt to book multiple appointments simultaneously; however, make sure that each salon provides enough time for you to fully enjoy each experience.

Keep Hydrated.

Prevent bloating by drinking plenty of water the night before and the morning of your shopping day. However, I suggest abstaining from alcohol the night before as you don’t want to ruin your special shopping day with excessive drinking.

Makeup your game.

Remember to apply some mascara and feel confident. Doing so will help you look amazing in every wedding dress that you try on; after all, your hair and make-up will likely have been professionally done for the big day, so ensure the looks coordinate seamlessly.

Take along a purse.

Bring photos of you wearing dresses so your attendant knows which style you prefer. Additionally, bring heels that match the height of your wedding dress, strapless bra and shapewear if you think you will want to wear them during the big day.

Make sure to document your findings.

Take photos and videos of the gowns you try on in a salon or shop. A wise move would be to ask someone you know to take pictures of each silhouette for you; these will prove useful later in your research.

Don’t let your guard down.

To get a better sense of the dress, try on veils or accessories. But don’t feel pressured; you might find similar pieces on other websites such as Etsy.

Understand your true financial position

It is essential that you inform your stylist of the budget you have set, including any after-tax amounts and for wedding dress alteration costs. Another tip: Schedule appointments for trunk shows to take advantage of exclusive discounts! Make sure to sign up for Inside Weddings newsletters every Tuesday for updates about trunk shows!
